    ============== End of Quarter/Year ==============

U.S. consumer confidence fell in September for the first time in five months and home prices in July rose less than expected from a year earlier, underscoring the unsteady nature of U.S. growth.

Also: According to the Stock Trader’s Almanac 2014 (page 84), the first trading day of each month combined produce nearly double the gains of all other days. However, based upon DJIA, October’s first trading day is rather meager as the seventh best performing first trading day of all twelve months with DJIA gaining a cumulative 339.01 points since 1997. Over the past 21 years, DJIA’s first trading day of October has produced gains just 57.1% of the time with an average gain of 0.19%. S&P 500 has advanced 52.4% of the time. NASDAQ has been notably weaker at just 42.9% with an average loss of 0.39%. (http://blog.stocktradersalmanac.com/)

Let's look at today's action and see where things stand going into the new 'year'.

Plus, it's New Tunes Tuesday ... we'll check out some new music out this week.

I hope everyone got through the market pullback this week. A lot of action over the last few days. The 60 min time frame played it off like a normal occasion, A picture perfect downward channel formed in the SPX and the appearance of a Lane Divergence got us short and hedging for a move to the downside. It worked great today I took my vxx off and some shorts  still holding some SPXU but as you will see in this video we are once again in that position where we have multiple time frames setting up for a bounce. It is really hard to call a significant bounce here as the sell off seems to be picking up some steam. The decline was very broad based. I do have a level to watch and that's just under us at 1958-1962 zone. You can see on the chart below the convergence of trend lines (X Marks the Spot Trade)

Ideally I would like to see a fast move down to that level then a pretty good rally back up..how far? well lets get the first part taken care of first..

In either case there are some great HPS zones approaching and I am happy to get this out before tomorrow as there could be some great opportunities if we hit those zones.

============== Bull Market Says Goodbye to Summer ?? ==============

Tonight, all the pundits will be giving you excuses about this market.  "We've run up too far too fast."  "The bull market can only last so long."  "It's time for relief."  Then you have the mindless finger-pointers: "U.S. Stocks Weighed Down By China."  "Small-Cap Selloff Leaves Fewer Stocks Shouldering Rally".  "It's Apples fault! It's Alibaba's!"  What's laughable is how there would be a completely opposite take on these same stories if the market was up today.  Well, that's why it's called a market.

As for us, we'll take a look at how far we've pulled back and what it could mean for the rest of the week.  We'll cover any major news for the day and our usual bout of tunes and entertainment, including some summer-to-autumn-related music.

You may also be interested in our review of the Miss America Pageant (I'm sorry, the Miss America Scholarship Program !!).  I think you'll be very surprised.

Should be a great show.  See you later today.

We have a few great signals that are pointing to a better short side trade next week and possibly longer. I forgot the mention in video the effect of Options expiration today causing some chance these signals might be flawed. But I don't think so.. I started back short today and cleared out some more longs. And I am up on BABA Booey.. Great information on this video about Lane divergences and stochastics in general. 2 Arrow Down for Monday.

This week's Watch List video can be found here.

This past week I noticed the channel breakout stochastic rotation was the goto setup, so I wanted to share my educational video on it and post these charts to save as reference.

Well first I feel the need to say this past week was NOT kick ass type of week that i am used to here at DTR. The reason..Well the market has been slowly grinding back and in this process I usually am identifying great quality names that have pulled back into there respectable patterns but continue to remain in there overall uptrend.  I concentrated on a sector that has not been in a bullish uptrend like the rest of the market (Basic Materials) with an focus on Oil and gas and precious metals. As you can see on the picture below Basic material have been the weakest sector for the last 30 days. Red is down Green is Up.

So when you have this situation and the market also is not performing well...

I am sure we are very close to a rotation in these stocks that were in focus last week, but the timing is hard especially when so many eyes are on it and the time frame we are working with for  the watch list is basically 5 days.

So back on track next week.

Great Stocks Great trends and I bet you we look back at the Basic Material Sector next week  and sure enough it will be green as a dollar bill.

This weeks Watch List has been posted here

    Have Great Weekend

    DTRS

    PS

As Market Radar goes for next week. The 60 minute looks great for a push back up, but daily is bearish.. I will use our cautious card.

Basically this is looking again like a standard pullback on the spx. You can definitely see the flag pattern both on the daily and the 60 min time frames. In fact the 60 min time frame was right on target to call today's bounce not to mention a perfect channel line bounce and Support pivot being touched all at the same level. A true HPS set up.

The Daily Stochastic is bearish and will be watching any cross back down on the 60 as a sign of a failure of this flag.

Would like to see a full rotation back up to overbought levels on the 60. Any breakdown would have me expecting a bigger pull back.

These next stocks are the best bets going into the end of the week, and will probably continue to be in focus for me into next week.

(AKAM) See the daily stochastic really showing strength. I love this stock long term but the profit is getting big and will probably take it off if we get a nice pop tomorrow.

(JNJ) Just a rockstar type of chart and company.Breaking out of a consolidation and looks great for continued upside with a nice stop under 102.50. But i don't even seeing a pull back back into the consolidation.

(LBTYA) Looks fantastic and picked it up today. We have some great candles setting up in DO , and RIG and also GTLS but I like LBTYA as the best bet of the bunch.

(LVS) Another Coiled Stochastic Channel Breakout setting up, Base is nice here and would expect a move within the next 2 days.

All the pieces are there. Lets see how it ends up

    See you tomorrow morning

This last week, the first week of September started with this uneasy feeling of "What if this market sells off all September? I didn't really think this was an option but like any streak that starts, the more time you put in on the streak the more interested people become. That's the same case with markets. We started off on a Tuesday making this a short week and for the first 3 days we ended in the red. If seemed  like a decent bet to make it 4 in a row. Then we had the jobs report and on the outside it would seem like a big disappointment 142K vs the 223K expected but the market saw that this type of report could leave the federal reserve reluctant to raise rates anytime soon.

    Markets close at the Highs

This last week didn't trigger much other then entries on the HPS and those entries are still very much valid and I go over them in more detail adding a few new ones.

    You can view Video here

The next 2 Videos I recorded today as I was working on my research and trading. It is a general discussion on patterns and what I look for in the first hour of trading. A kind of Tips and Tricks Segment. I go over how to time the market using multiple time frame charts and then I chart out HPS levels live and discuss there relevance.

Hope you Enjoy them they have some good stuff  in them.
