Earlier today I sent out a special update post discussing the potential reversal candles that are showing up in the consumer product sector this was the last post and last email. This video goes into more detail but outlines many more key setups for this upcoming week. February starts  off bullish in the Stock Traders Almanac with a 76% upside probability on the $SPX and an 81% on the Nasdaq. I have a feeling we will hold true to those stats and instead of a turn around Tuesday lets look for a nice market Monday.

The DayTradingRadio members meet up is approaching on fast Feb 16th. I will be sending out more info early next week.

  • Major Reversal Candles Forming in Consumer Good Stocks

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jan 31, 2014 1:05 pm

Today, I want to get this alert out early to take advantage of some great reversals in the market. As we trade live on http://www.daytradingradio.com, we focus on High Probability Setup (HPS) zones. These are zones that have a multiple indicators lining up at the same time and place. The icing on the cake would be to see a reversal candle forming that suggests a change in sentiment in the stock or trading vehicle that the candle has formed in. It does not guarantee a reversal, but combined with the HPS indicators, it is one of the best risk/reward trade scenarios in the market.

We are seeing a lot of these today and I wanted to make sure people had an opportunity to take advantage of this alert. Stock that are setting up

PM, PG, K, YUM, PM, DG, DLTR

These three are in focus and are Best Bets going into next week.

Caution is always advised in trading and there are no guarantees in the market. Please do your own due diligence.

Watch for a complete HPS watchlist to be released today for these and many great setups for next week

  • This Week's HPS Video and Watch list and Wedge Patterns

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jan 24, 2014 8:44 pm

This Weeks Video can be Viewed here Watch list Video

Not to rewrite everything I said in the video, but in a nutshell I am looking for more downside Before we move back up and take out the highs. I understand and respect the market enough to know not to impose my will on it. Meaning I can not predict what will happen next week and neither can anyone else. This is my Saying  "I have been in the market long enough to have experience everything that has happened in that time, but I haven't experience things that haven't happened." So In this weeks video watch list I go over the many levels underneath us (3) that if we moved down to them I expect to be some trade opportunities and those same levels will be the level I would look to cover any shorts I have at that time. The shorts will come in most likely in the form of a short on the $SPX  either though the SPXU, or SPY short  or Puts in the SPY. I feel this will be the best strategy for me If I want to defend my current longs as I think I am close to great levels on them and I also expect the markets to move higher after this pullback (Also this could be setting up for a very nice wide flag).

So  some hedges with the longs  and expecting to take possible 2 positions off.

Also want to play attention to any big candles that play out next week.

The main signal the last week was the rising wedge pattern that was developing and pretty much matured enough to expect a breakdown from it, which is what is expected from it. You been hearing a lot more about falling wedges the rising wedges lately we  just had a great falling wedge in IBM a few weeks ago and it was even perfect to the point of its measured move target

So rising wedges are not as common and in most cased falling wedges are continuation patterns in a greater uptrend. So this rising wedge is definitely not a pullback in a larger downtrend. This is where i would like to trade a rising wedge. Either way this looks like a good wedge and it does look like we have some more pullback coming.

I just recently wrote up some notes on wedges and even though the examples are mostly with falling wedges you just have to reverse the rules for rising wedges. The wedge is one of my favorite patterns.

Wedge Patterns: You can have 3 different wedges. First is my favorite to trade the Falling Wedge which has a bullish bias to it. The rising Wedge is just the opposite and with a negative bias and finally the symmetrical triangle which has no directional slope and no bullish or bearish bias on its own merit.

Lets start off with some great examples of what a proper wedge looks like. 2 Lines form this pattern and there is a few key points to look for. Not all falling wedges are equal and just like 1-2-3 Patterns over time you will get a feel for the angles of the 2 lines. In a falling wedge the upper downtrend line (resistance) and the lower (support) line are in a process to converge at a point in the distant future. This convergence should not happen and you want to see the lower support line at less of an angle to the top trend line The chart will play out with the stock making new lower lows  but this penetration becomes shallower. Shallower lows indicate a decrease in selling pressure and create a lower support line with less negative slope than the upper resistance line.

    DayTraderRockStar Tip

Trading Patterns for close to 20 years has made me aware of some very profitable scenarios that play out in the market. One of these involves trading the falling wedge pattern. Once you think you identified a valid wedge pattern rising or falling (not symmetrical). Take the 2 trend lines that are slowly converging and extend those trend lines out till they meet. They break down the chart by placing a line at the beginning of the pattern and where the trend lines will eventually converge and then go back and but a vertical line right in the middle of the pattern representing the 50% mark. Now put a line between the middle and the end  and that will represent the 75% zone.  This is a excellent gauge on when and where the wedge will break out. The area is between 65%-75% in the wedge.

Try to take the trade closest to the lower trend line in a falling wedge and closest to the top trend line in a rising wedge.

Important to watch the stochastics here to as you want to see a divergence happen or at least get a good rotation back up and momentum to start gaining to the upside.

Thanks it for now have a great weekend

In the last 2 weeks I discussed the some of the key criteria for a perfect HPS. We have seen great examples of these play out this past week in the likes of $BHI and $FD

$BHI was alerted on the lower trend line via the HPS site
FDO was planned out pre-market because of the 1-2-3 pattern
Now this week's "Kick Ass Trade of the Week" is so good I decided to post it here. The Kick Ass Trade represents the best trade set up based off the HPS Methodolgy. Each week the HPS video Watch list is released to members and goes over in fine detail the best risk/reward charts for the upcoming week. This is a really great chart and I expect it to move this week.
The Video Watchlist can be viewed here with 2 other setups that could also be considered Best Bets. Plus many other HPS's

    daytraderockstar post

    Jan 10, 2014 8:35 pm

Great video and great setups kick off next week. I have 3 Kick ass Trades Llned up and ready to rock all detailed in the video among other great channels that are showing up all around.

These channels and flags that are appearing are giving the market an underlying bullish tone. This fact alone is keeping me out of any shorts at this time. This weeks watch list has so many quality names and those names are in my favorite formation a lower channel line bounce with a nice stochastic oversold signal appearing at the same time. This is my go to pattern and expect a great week next week. I will also remind you Monday morning of the top 3 stocks for the week.

Now on to a little education.... MCD (McDonalds) Has a great channel that it has been trading in for the last year. The stochastic signal could have been traded on each signal with a great return. I am starting to see a Stochastic-Price Channel Divergence in the chart that is represented by the recent oversold stochastic oscillator and the higher low on the price. We are about to get oversold again in MCD and will be watching for a move back up this week.

So lets look at the Stochastic Price Divergence in a Channel

This is an excerpt from the HPS Methodology Education Section I have been writing it could be useful to print out these charts for future reference.

Stochastic Price Divergence this divergence is a another great technique in determining a change of trend. What is key here is to see the recognized confirmed trend in the stock or index this technique works great when we are in a confirmed channel. As the price in in our example makes lower lows you should see the stochastics cycle alone with the price and get oversold as the price makes lower lows. The divergence happens when the stochastics get back down into a oversold level as it had been doing in the downtrend, but the price puts in a higher low. This can usually be seen clearly in a organized channel and usually is the first signal that a break out of the channel is approaching.

Lets watch MCD next week and see how it plays out. I don't see myself getting in this on but saving my powder for the pure HPS Best Bets (Kick Ass Trades)
