First, have a great 3 day weekend. Now let's just say that over the weekend nothing happens in regards to Syria, this could mean a lot of different things. Main thing is the possibility of some new info from the UN inspectors. For argument's sake, let's say nothing happens at all. Tuesday markets get a little relief to the upside. But we are still being held hostage by the new and can only guess how this turns out.

September has a shadow hanging over it. Historically, it is one of  the worst performing months since the 1960's. Now, we have the tapering debate that should play out this month, debt issues that will be brought back into the media's eye so they can pound this story down our throats and of course Syria. Believe it or not, even with all these events I am expecting one last move up. To new highs or just the last bounce before a rollover? I think we will see that in the indicators when that time comes.  Next week is short and full of all sorts of news events (Syria, Jobs Report, etc.). I will be focused on the nice list of stocks on the watch list this week and unless we get embedded on the 60 min time frame I will still watch those stochastics for a general bias. As an added bonus, this week's Kick Ass Trade will be LTD.

On a side note, our partners at SureTrader contacted me today after we had been talking with them about feedback from the members. One of the biggest remarks about Suretrader, was the fee to wire money.  I could never lock them down with a definite and competitive deal for members of the site. However, I think we made some progress and I give most of the credit to Dac who regularly speaks with Fred from SpeedTrader. Anyway, we got a promotion for September

    DTR Listeners get

    • 20 free trades on $2000 or more funded accounts
    • No Fee funding up to $4000.00

Remember Suretrader gives 6-1 margin intra-day and you are not subject to the pattern daytrading rule requiring 25k to get in and out freely in the market whenever you want. This by far is the biggest benefit.

More info can be found here as I went through my process of opening an account with them and explaining more about them http://www.daytradingradio.com/pages/preferredbroker

Markets ended strong for the week and even after the Nasdaq "Glitch" yesterday we started to see a stronger tape even as market commentators were screaming fire in theater. After all said in done Egypt kinda sank into the background and the markets continue to cycle with the 60 min stochastic time frame. On top of that we didn't have the typical selling we been seeing at the end of the day for the majority of the week. All in all I think we are looking more bullish going into next week, We left off with the 60 min time frame in a overbought condition with great strength at the close. We shall see how we start off next week and get a better read very early in the week. On the equity (stock) side of things. We have some great opportunities this week. Not as many as last week as the setups are triggering now in MO, PM, VZ, T, but there are new ones that are AS GOOD as those. The best bet for next week could be any number of stocks I will look for $TSCO to break to new highs this week but give it a few days. the others are all outlined in the video and on the HPS site. I will be in the market bright and early Monday and will have a better idea on what if any trades I want to take early Monday but I expect to start some new position in the new additions to the watch list.

Next week's Guest Trader is Andy From Finland he will be skyping in and sharing his trades on DTR live. Tt should be a fun week and profitable one.

Also next week we will have some surprises for you.

I want to thank all the traders and members of the site. The team work and attitude in the rooms has been great I truly enjoy trading with everyone.

I normally would go ahead and write a nice article here discussing market conditions and where I see the markets moving in the next 5 trading days. This has been done consistently for at least the last 12 weeks. But now I would say we have come to a time in the markets where technical analysis take a back seat to some Geo-political news. Another important thing you will hear me say over and over again is you won't find a better way to capture profits in the market the the HPS methodology except when I put up the red flag! And a red flag is due to some news that the market was not expecting in this case a fast escalation of violence in Egypt. The severity we haven't seen in years. Snipers are killing news correspondents and children. It could be that Egypt is on the brink of a civil war. So now we have two opposing signals. The markets have now rotated back down from recent overbought levels 1709 in the S&P 500 and have gotten oversold on both the daily and 60 minute time frame. This normally would be a extremely bullish area for me, but because of the uncertainty of events that could happen very soon. I would remain extremely cautious and even though we have great set up that qualify for HPS. There is no guarantee the market reacts to the signals.

We might have a better picture on Sunday. Futures open at 6:00 pm est, which can be seen on DTR. If there has been no further deterioration in events around the world, I would say that Tuesday will be the day to watch for that move back up possibly Monday. Either case, I have some awesome set ups and new HPS stocks on the watch list. $KO leads them off and it only gets better. $OXY also is key at the lower channel line.

This could be a great week or a big wash. One thing for sure, the stocks on this week's HPS  from a-z are all set up and even if the market broke down these are the ones that will come back fast. I will be keeping things small but will look to add to the ones I am holding as now. For the last 2 weeks I have cut back on my size normally starting off with 100 to 300 share I have step in with 50 share position and in these HPS not holding anything more then 200 shares and in most cases 100 shares. Monday I will have to see where we stand and decide if I want to lighten up or press.

My call is this will be an opportunity when we look back 2 weeks from now. I expect one more push to new highs and then a correction.

Well here I am again, Not even one day into the week and I am bringing some setups. I know for a fact that throughout my trading career I always performed better when I researched the night before. It's true, well for me it is. I always feel more confident and it seems like every move was planned, There is no chasing trades, or rushing into stuff. The research the night really slows down things and lets me make better decisions.  Just passing it on....

So tonight started out trying to go back and find all my archived images of charts and find the best examples of the 200 ema breakdown / lower channel bounce. As that will be the nest HPS Playbook Video I want to get out. But I got sidetracked by the possibilities that will be presented tomorrow in the markets. I compiled a nice set of stocks for tomorrow focus with the notes or comments on chart.

Today most have been one of my most active trading days in recent history. Mainly because it takes time for HPS's to come to maturity. Where the best stocks are setting up in the best way possible for a short term trade and today we had a lot of those stocks set up. So I usually start small position on the Friday to ensure the stocks don't gap up and run away on me on Monday. Over the last week I focused a lot of shorts and was Shorting the market on 3 occasions each one ending up with a nice profit. So where does that that leave us going into next Monday? The Bulls seem to be fighting hard and not ready to roll over for any significant move down. But I am not over confident on either direction. The daily chart is setting up as a text book flag but with stochastics moving lower and the 60 min is neutral. To hedge with a few shorts might be logical at this point, but not necessarily right. Over time I see us heading higher its Just Monday I won't make a call on. As for underlying stocks we have seen a great move in steel this week and other commodity based stocks. And now I am seeing some great setups starting to appear in some stocks that might be too good to pass up. As I usually do each week I mention one of the Best Bets I have on the Members Watch List Video. This week hands down it's IBM. The Buy Zone and Profit zones can be found on the HPS site.

I want to thanks DV8 for being this week's Guest Trader. Awesome job Dane!

As I always want to give back to the members I want to kick off officially "Buy the Trader a Margarita"  for DV8 who's paypal address is info@approachnet.com.

If you appreciate Danes trades or maybe profited from them hey buy him a round I am doing that right now!

This Week's video is uploaded and ready for you. The first part a great review on why HPS continues to work and the second part contains all this week's plays

    http://daytradingradio.com/10for1000

Final Comment I feel the flag will break out to the upside next week and like to see it led by some great oversold stocks that are the focus of the HPS video.

Last Friday the market proved it’s going to take more than dismal NFP numbers to derail one of the strong bull runs in history.  The market continues to digest these higher prices through time rather than price, therefore trying to short equities in this tape continues to be extremely difficult.

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Aug 02, 2013 11:14 pm

Another great week HPS set ups in

    DRI  + 55.50

    EAT  + 129.00

    CBS  + 156.00

    ANN  +148.00

    PM  +60.00

    MON -48.00

    DLTR + 56.50

    AAPL +183.30

And one of the best trades I ever made in my career; not in monetary value, just in percentage gains:

Picking up a MA call option

    BOT 1 MA AUG 02 '13 605 Call Option 0.50 USD NASDAQOM 12:06:39 0.69 (12:08 PM EST)

    and selling

    SLD 1 MA AUG 02 '13 605 Call Option 17.00 USD PSE 09:38:03 0.72 +1538.60

Even though the MA trade was a reaction trade and not a pure HPS setup, it showed great teamwork in the chat room and it's great to recognize an opportunity with hundreds of eyes on the market.

The only reason I mention this week's successful trades is to point out the common denominator of these trades. Each trade was thoughtfully planned out and fell within the HPS methodology. Quality is the first thing that stands out.The names are brand names. The charts, as they are presented to you, all have multiple indicators lining up also. I cannot stress the importance of making yourself adhere to strict rules on stock selections and entries. Anything less, you lower your chances and "decrease" your confidence. Confidence plays such a huge part in trading that I stress to beginner traders to trade small and become familiar with your stress levels and fine tune your discipline and work on patience. All these will make you a better trader.

Everyone will eventually get caught in a trade mainly because they believe stronger in their opinion then what the market is showing them or in my case sometimes I, too, hold into earnings looking for a bigger payday. Sometimes it will work out but it can also end very badly. The best thing is to save the gambling  for Vegas. Even if I hold into earnings (i.e. KRFT) it should be no indication of the stock performing well. Just a friendly disclaimer (reminder).

This week's Watch List is great and as you can tell, I might be a little fired up in it. I am excited to be in these markets and I am extremely proud in how the HPS system has evolved and the success it has brought people. I stand by my pledge of bringing you only the best setups out there, based on strict criteria and quality names. I know there is nothing better when it comes to finding these stocks and presenting them in an educational manner.

On Monday, we have the release of the new Dashboard with the new alert system on it. And I am happy to announce the beginning of a new feature here on DTR: "Guest Trader of the Week" where i will let a member of the DTR community be in the spotlight and have their trades posted in the trade alert box.

This Week's, and the first, Guest Trader is DV8. He is a very active trader in the room each day. I have been tracking his performance over the last few months, and he has brought an abundance of successful trade calls to the room. He posts his real time entries and exits. He is a great member and proud to have him as a guest trader. I hope this feature brings new traders into the spotlight where we can all learn and profit. This is not meant to put any pressure on anyone. I know how that can be trading in front of hundreds of peers. But I want to give back to these great traders and members by letting them share their knowledge and skills and if you find it profitable and educational then buy him a margarita.

Now if you've been with the site from the beginning days (2006-2007) you know this site started as a donation site which basically said hey if you're getting value out of the site, then buy me a margarita. I would have a PayPal donation button and that's how it went for almost a year. I was constantly told that I needed to charge for the time I put in and the research I did. I gave in and instantly took a pay cut meaning the people who were donating in some cases 100.00 a week now only had to pay 14.95 a month. going on 7 years later I have only raised the price twice to 24.95 and currently 29.95. That's basically a dollar a day to have this research, education and community delivered to you each day. Not to mention that anyone who subscribed at a certain level was locked into that price never to go up; that has been my pledge and it continues today  I am happy on how Daytradingradio has evolved over the years. I give all I can and don't ask much in return. So with this new feature "Guest Trader" I hope you all pay it forward to those traders that make you money and teach you something new. DV8's (Dane) paypal donation email info@approachnet.com. Remember that for Monday.

    Back to the Watch List

With the market extended and trading up to a recognized trend line I want to see how far we push through the line or do we gap down Monday. With recent employment numbers "so so" I can't see the target unemployment rate of 6.5% being touched anytime this year. So I would expect further Fed Support into 2014. Between that time and now I would expect the market to get tired and consolidate or retrace some, but I am not looking for any major correction. I continue to add to the HPS trend line alerts and when they trigger you will see them in the new alert system. These will always be great opportunities to trade off of. The 60 minute setups will be key this week and I hope to repeat this past week's success.

The Stochastics in the above chart are very bullish even though we are at the trend line. Overall outlook I see us moving a bit higher next week and getting a pullback soon after that during the week.

    Have a great Weekend

    DTRS
