  • Market Update. New HPS watch List has been updated

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jun 30, 2012 10:41 pm

And what a great watch list it is.....This weeks watch list focuses in on on the best of the best growth companies minus maybe a couple, but most of these stocks have been featured stocks in the Investors Business Daily's "New America"  section.

Market's got a big bang Friday and drove us over short term resistance. This also gave me a bullish signal on the daily chart not to mention the extremely bullish signal on the weekly chart. Well all seems good as the wall of worry gave the market great support over the last 2 month. You would have thought that Europe was on the brink of monetary collapse by how the analyst covered it.

What's funny if you look at my post last Thursday you can see I wanted to really get excited if we could gain 35 points on the $SPX Friday we gained +33.12. Now we are right under that level. I would be more cautious is we gapped up Monday and would watch if we could hold 1364 into the close. A flat or slight gap down open would see me look for a fast reversal and break above the key 1364 level.

This will be a light volume week and with a holiday on Wednesday I would look for the markets to float at this level with a upward bias. I don't think it's time to look for shorts yet.

One last key event for next week will be the EU ECB Interest rate Decision this will be on JUly 5th and could move the markets the announcement will be out 7:45am EST (New York Time)

at 8:30 am ECB Chief Draghi will hold a press conference and issue an official statement.

NOTE: Goldman calls for a 25 Bps cute to the repo rate on July 5th

The underlying tone is really beginning to swing to a rate cute coming from the ECB this week. I will be looking for the markets move up into this.

  • Short Term Bullish for Tomorrow

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jun 29, 2012 12:03 am

    Technical View:

Like an on off switch the markets rotated back down from it's recent overbought level (see charts) down into a short term oversold level and left really no doubt on the charts that we entered a bullish bias for tomorrow. This should be an easy read even if we have a  failure and cross back over on the 60 min stochastics. I will be watching the first hour to see if can hold onto a piece of the 10 point run we had at the end of the day on Thursday. Not without saying...News will always be the wild card in the charts. 60 min is bullish and daily building what looks like a bear flag. Levels to watch on the $SPX 1338 and 1308.

    Personal View:

Everyday we wait and play the game of musical chairs in the market, Technical's seem to play out fine, but I can't help but be extremely cautious just because of all the negativity that abounds in the market. But I have seen markets climb many walls of worry in my career and also know that the markets tend to price in most news that get beaten by that proverbial dead horse. What comes out of the EU summit is the next unknown. Can the so called leaders of the world solve problems that seem to be mathematical in nature. I am not trying to simplify anything down to math, but more upset by how this is being dragged on. The key here is the problems are on the table and every scenario has been discusses over and over again. I think the markets in most part have priced in a lot of the possible scenarios that could play out. The recent high in the market is less the 100 points away on the S&P, But i will just take 35 points to really get amped.

What i would like to see as a road map for tomorrow. Slight pull back in the morning (5 min overbought), We hold onto the majority of yesterdays late day rally and we move higher on the 9:50 reversal. Could be a lot of news coming from Europe. Bias for the day is up and a 60 minute stochastic cross over back down will be a strong short signal so keep an eye on this to exit or short.

Been here in the office over 10 hours today scanning and charting 100's of stocks This is something that I do for the members of Daytradingradio, The research is designed to bring into focus quality stocks that nearing defined areas of interest, be it trend lines, Support or resistance or just a higher value area. The wild cards in the market are the news events that can appear at any moment, and as we all know news is the major focal point of the markets these days. Thursday the markets reacted to a very negative Philly fed Number this came at very important technical resistance level in the markets and markets sold off hard from this point. The overall picture is better then what you would think listenng to the situation in both Europe and here in the U.S.

Shorter term technicals have rolled over and we have defined a new downward channel, it the larger picture this could be seen as a larger bullish flag but we need to break back above 1364 to confirm this.

Fridays move up was not convincing but did act perfectly with the oversold 60 min stochastic oscillator but this is looking more like a bear flag then a push higher.

I have a list of stocks to go over Monday that are in addition to the HPS  set ups, These I just uncovered in the last 2 hours. They look very promising and are some new candidates for break outs.

The short set ups are in front of us all over the market but there are the new breed of up and comers that sure look strong to there is a beautiful balance for this weeks watch list plus more coming.

This video outlines 7 short ideas and a few longs, but going into the weekend and Greek elections trading will be choppy. Technicals point to further weakness as pointed out in video and the 1336 level could be seen as a positive breakout in the markets on the shorter term.

The next 2 weeks will be very pivotal in the overall medium term direction of the markets. Bearish sentiment is strong and that is one big positive for the markets. Seems like we been hearing the same story for the last 3 months. But the next 2 weeks are very important and there are 2 questions that need to be answered: Is the market pricing in a lot of this potential negativity ie. Greek exit? and will there be a coordinated effort on the parts of the "global central banks" to cut off any further deterioration in the EU? Not expecting a solution, but a coordinated response.

The latest book in the series, Hedge Fund Market Wizards was released in May 2012. Jun 10, 2012 10:13 pm

Sorry for the delay this weekend. But the delay actually was a blessing in disguise. S&P futures opened up very strong tonight (Sunday) and point to a pretty significant gap up tomorrow. This will most likely effect a lot of the stocks on the watch list so this week's video was altered a bit to take that into effect, Listing my very bullish stocks (stocks that should break out to 52 week highs and some all time highs. and listing the HPS multiple indicators stocks that will be taken but to be analyzed closer to see if we have a better opportunity on a pull back. Gaps could lead to selling all day and knowing the markets will be here the next day we have to practice more caution and let things set up properly or get frustrated holding during the grind.

Yet on the other side of the coin what if this market rips all day, Well it will be easy to see the relative weak stocks to note and trade on a fast time frame like the 15 minute. This will give us the best opportunities in a strong trend. The key is what stocks to focus on. QCOM and VMW are 2 of my top along with the other HPS set ups for this week listed on site. Look forward to a great day tomorrow.

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jun 03, 2012 10:17 pm

Even though I put out a detailed watch list video I want to follow up with a Market Radar for tomorrow. As markets still are in turmoil and overnight futures are currently lower

    U.S. Stock Futures

     S&P -8.80  /  -0.69%
    Level 1,265.10
    Fair Value 1,277.01
    Difference -11.91

    Data as of 9:14pm ET

If we opened at this level tomorrow, We entering the buy area on the SPX that I was looking for for a potential trade. Now news could come out anytime overnight that will effect the markets in either direction, and markets don't need to hold levels just because they recent support or a technical tie be it a trend line or other indicator that lines up. It's great to know these levels and watch them for potential areas to trade off of, but nothing is guaranteed . If the market does bounce it could happen overnight sometime usually after Europe and Asia has opened.

So if we do change directions overnight that would be of great interest to me if not then sticking to the potential shorts on the watch list and maybe scaling in small long on some quality. Wish there was more info out there. Staying with the Caution Sign for tomorrow.

Now for some other great news.

Tomorrow Monday or Today depending when your getting this  we are having a special guest

World Renown Technical Analyst  Martin Pring will be interviewed by myself.

    TIME: 11:30 am est

    Place: www.daytradingradio.com

Martin Prings Book: Technical Analyst Explained was one of the first books i was introduced to when i began trading in the early 90's, I still recommend it to beginners and advanced traders alike. It has stood the test of time and still my favorite book on the bookshelf. Personally I consider this guy a legend in the realm of TA. I am honored to have him come on the show tomorrow. Don't miss this great interview.

P.S  If any members would like to ask Martin any questions please email them to me early at ironaction@yahoo.com. I cannot guarantee I will get all the questions on the show but will do my best.

Plus I will be in the office without staff tomorrow so no phone support tomorrow.

Second Event: There will be a new Super Stock Jockey Daytradingradio sponsored contest this week with great cash prizes and 1st prize to Join me down at the Nasdaq as Super Stock Jockey opens up the market along with all the post events that will happen that day.

I am in the process of sending out a detailed post of the announcement of the contest so look for it tonight

    daytraderockstar post

    posted by daytraderockstar

    Jun 02, 2012 9:24 pm

I had a question in the Forum recently I want to post my answer here also cause it wraps up my thoughts pretty good.

Markets are a crap shoot in front of Europe news ie. Greece, Spain,  We need to clear some things up to get money to really flow into the markets and buy equities, Markets going to react hard on any news up or down, My main concern is not missing an opportunity in the markets, So if that means selling and going into cash or just being less exposed to markets right now thats what i am leaning too. Markets tend to force the hand of many trader right before it moves back in the opposite direction. Hoard the cash and be ready for a opportunity. That is when most of the money will be made, lets cut back on shares so it will be easy to manage positions. I expect something from the central banks, but what and when is the lottery ticket. Hate to say sell and wait it out then see the market rip into a relief rally, but getting out doesn't mean you can't get back in...

With that said the shorts definitely have the ball and the relentless selling on Friday was not a good sign. I was happy to embrace some shorts last week to help counter some losses on the longs. Coming into this week I am looking forward to trading the 1269-1266 area on the S&P 500

This weeks watch list really has a great selection of both shorts and longs. I picked up some GOOG calls at  the end of the day Friday as it seem to hold its gap down well, I didnt mention this on the watch list but wanted to mention it here as it looks great. Also VRSN is a great focus stock this week among many others. On the short side look at the recent high flyers that are just beginning to roll over Short set up on the watch list SNI, ALL, PRGO to name a few. The HPS site is progressing nicely.
