(XOM) Great Risk Reward Trade
posted by daytraderockstar
Aug 18, 2009 12:03 am
Every So often I see a set up with a Price deviation from the 20 ema , Now, when I was a beginner trader I used to try to buy stocks when stocks approached there trend line and while I was expecting a break out , The smart money was taking profits. Over the tears years, you start to learn to buy into weakness. It is not a easy concept to understand, Sometimes I use the term "deviate" either from a moving average or a trend line, Now again I get many emails asking for me to explain my system or style of the deviation method ( or shall i say buying on a pullback) I will explain it 2 ways the first being..

Fuck That..Why do people even try to explain shit like this, What i want someone to tell me is ,
The Second Way
1. See an established trend line tested at least 3 times.
2. Look for a pull back from the trend line, BUT the price need to stay above previous lows.
3. Buy on some positve indicator..oversold stochastics, rising trendline, or a rising moving average under the price.
4. Set stop at recent lows
THis seem much easier to understand, The truth is buying on pull backs will make you more money 7 times out of 10. The XOM trade still can go lower, but watch the lower trend line for next support. I will continue to buy on a pull back. But not expecting the price to get much cheaper.
NOTE: Remember the more stable the company (Stock) the more reliabel the bounce back to the 20 ema, and in the case of XOM we got a nice pull back. Look for a bounce!

(SPIL) Focus Stock
posted by daytraderockstar
Aug 16, 2009 11:37 pm
A members brought this stock to my attention, I wanted to chart it out and put it as a focus stock for this week and follow the bullish inverted head and shoulders that has formed, This one is a low price set up, and would wait for a break out of the pattern or at least a close back over the 20 ema to start a position.
Between this on and another low price stock set up on the week HLYS, I like the HLYS as better risk vs reward trade.

Chart.ly Chart of the day 8/10/09

Today on the Chart.ly chart of the day we have @gtotoy with his take on retailer Joseph A Bank (JOSB). While we are still hearing a good amount of bearish sentiment on retail from traders and economists alike , good looking long setups like this are starting to become more common place. As noted in the chart, the large short interest could provide fuel to this fire if the bulls can push past a few important levels.
